The main areas whether the Uridges settled in the Unitied States of America (USA) were California, and Michigan. Interested in all persons with events in America, or to browse by location?

California

One of the earliest Californian settlers was Walter George URIDGE, a descendant of John URIDGE & Rebecca JEFF of Buxted, Sussex.

In 1881, Walter emigrated from Chailey, Sussex to Fresno, USA. In 1893, he married Ethel MOTT in Fresno. They had seven children.

Walter's great grand-daughters Mary De Carlo and Pat Haun, still live in California.

In 1893, Walter's cousin Henry URIDGE also emigrated to Fowler, USA.

Walter passed through Ellis Island, the primary port of entry for most immigrants to the US.

Michigan

Two early pioneers of Michigan were Philip and George Robert URIDGE, sons of Philip URIDGE and Sarah BARTON.

Philip H. Dorland has kindly provided the photographs from Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit where George and his family are buried in a family plot.
