| Welcome! This information
is about the descendants of Phoeby Uridge,
and Richard Bathurst. Pheoby immigrated in
July 1852 to New Zealand, on the ship "Samarang",
with six children. Today, they have approximately
300 descendants.
Phoeby
(also known as Pheebe, Pheobe, and Phebe)
was born between 1810 and 1819 at Hoo, Kent.
At that time the family of
George URIDGE and
Frances LANE lived in Hoo, and it is
assumed, although not proven, that her parents
were George and Frances. A family legend
goes that she was the stunningly attractive
but illiterate daughter of a farmer who
sold milk to the Bathurst family. Phoeby
lived with, but never married Richard
BATHURST and it is believed they had
nine children. After Richard's death Pheoby
immigrated in July 1852 to New Zealand,
on the ship "Samarang". Pheobe
later married
Richard MARTIN on 16 April 1857 but
they did not have any children. Pheobe died,
after living 33 years in New Zealand, on
17 May 1889 at Okains Bay, Banks Peninsula,
New Zealand.
Additional
information about each person is available
in the Narratives, which can be accessed
by choosing the hyperlinked name.
My sincere thanks
to Judith Batt, and Shirley Dixon of New
Zealand for their co-operation and collaboration
in compiling this information and for providing
the collection of superb photographs.

Henrietta or Henrietta. Caroline

Alexander
