In the census of 5 April 1891 at 43 St. Catherine Street, Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire, he was listed as an unmarried Flannel Weaver aged 34 born in St. Peters Carmarthen, the son of David THOMAS; a Carpenter, living with his wife Margaret, and son David, a Boarder [Grandson] William LEWIS, daughter Mary, and grandson Edward THOMAS.⁵

     William LEWIS was born in 1865 in Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire.^2,1 He was the son of Benjamin LEWIS and Jane THOMAS.^2,3
He was listed as aged 5 born in Carmarthan, the grandson of David THOMAS in the census of 2 April 1871 at Knights Buildings, Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire.²
In the census of 3 April 1881 at 43 St. Catherine Street, Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire, he was listed as aged 15 born in St. Peters Carmarthen, the grand-son of David THOMAS; a Carpenter, living with his wife Margret, and son David, grandchildren William LEWIS, and Sarah LEWIS, and [grand] daughter Mary J. THOMAS, and son-in-law Thomas QUIRK, and daughter Sarah QUIRK.⁴
He was listed as a married Flannel Weaver aged 25 born in St. Peters Carmarthen, a Boarder of David THOMAS in the census of 5 April 1891 at 43 St. Catherine Street, Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire. He was infact his grandson.⁵
