Also listed as lodgers were James GOSLING, and Charlotte HEWLET.1,3 In the census of 5 April 1891 at 17 Stanton Square, Sydenham, Kent, James was listed as the Head of Household; Unemployed, living with his wife and daughter.4 In the census of 31 March 1901 at 39 Porthcawe Road, Lewisham, London, James was listed as the Head of Household; a Cabman, living with his wife, and grandson Harold SMITH. Also staying with them was a visitor, Emily POTTER a widow, and her children Ellen and Wallis POTTER.5

     Edward HILL was the son of Edward HILL.2 Edward married Fanny URIDGE, daughter of George URIDGE and Sarah Gilbert GARDNER, on 9 December 1879 at Southover, Lewes, Sussex. By licence, in the presence of George HILL, Kate Adele URIDGE, Rosetta HILL, and William URIDGE.3,4 Edward was a Farmer in 1882 at St. Leonards on Sea, Sussex.5

HILLS was born in 1857 in St. Nicholas, Thanet, Kent.1,3 Rosetta married William Champion URIDGE, daughter of George URIDGE and Sarah Gilbert GARDNER, in 1881 at Blean, Kent.2 In the census of 5 April 1891 at 39 Grecian Street, Maidstone, Kent, she was listed as the wife of William C. URIDGE; a Miller, living with his wife, two sons, daughter and a neice Maud L. MILLER.3 Rosetta died in 1936 at Sheppey, Kent.1

Mary Ann GRAHAM's birth was registered in 1861 in the St Neots registration district. She was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Graham (née Cole). She was part of a large Graham Family (at least 12 siblings) living in Hitchin Hertfordshire.2,1,3,4,5,6 Mary married William Gurney URIDGE, son of William URIDGE and Sarah GURNEY, in 1882 at Holborn, London.7,1,8 In the census of 5 April 1891 at Chiswell Street, St. Lukes, London, she was listed as the daughter in law of William URIDGE.9 In the census of 31 March 1901 at 27 Chiswell Street, St. Lukes, London, she was listed as the wife of William Gurney URIDGE.10 Mary died on 17 September 1934 at Hitchin, Hertfordshire.11,12,1,4 She Mally wrote: "In 1881 Mary Ann was working as a barmaid at a pub that occupied numbers 65 and 66 Chiswell St, St. Lukes London, (now demolished) the landlady being her aunt Mary A Panton. Also working there were Mary Ann's Brother Henry (Harry) Graham and sister Elizabeth Graham.5"

Arthur Richard KIMBER was born in 1858 in Lindfield, Sussex.3 Arthur married Eliza Chandler URIDGE, daughter of Joseph CHANDLER and Jane URIDGE, on 16 April 1883 at Hove, Sussex.4,5 In the census of 5 April 1891 at Italian Villa, Lindfield, Sussex, Arthur was listed as the Head of Household; a Postman, living with his wife and young daughter. They also had a boarder, Alice BLADES, an Elementary School Teacher.3 In the census of 31 March 1901 at School House, Lindfield, Sussex, he was listed as the brother of Frances KIMBER.2

Annie Elizabeth GODLEY was born in 1862 in Burgess Hill, Sussex.4 She was the daughter of James GODLEY.2,3 In the census of 3 April 1881 she was listed as aged 19, born in Clayton, Sussex a barmaid the daughter of James GODLEY; a Licensed Victualler, married aged 40, living with his six sons and two daughters.2 Annie married Henry James URIDGE, son of James URIDGE and Adele Victorine GIBBINS, in 1885 at Cuckfield, Sussex.1 In the census of 5 April 1891 at Cottage, Little Ote Hall, Wivelsfield, Sussex, she was listed as the wife of Henry James URIDGE; a Farmer, living with his wife and infant son. Also living with them was two brothers Albert & George GODLEY (his wife's brothers), and a Domestic Servant Grace FARMER.5 Annie married William LEWIS in 1899 at Steyning, Sussex.6,4 In the census of 31 March 1901 at 22 Rugby Road, Preston, Sussex, she was listed as the wife of William LEWIS; a Copper Smith.4

James MARTIN was born in 1860 in Fletching, Sussex.1 He was the son of William MARTIN and Jane FLEET.1,2 In the census of 3 April 1881 at Wapsbourne, Chailey, Sussex, he was listed as a Farmer's son, the son of William MARTIN.1 James married Rose Pauline URIDGE, daughter of James URIDGE and Adele Victorine GIBBINS, in 1886 at Lewes, Sussex.3 James died in 1890 in the Lewes registration district.4,5 Brother and sister, James and Mary Jane MARTIN, married brother and sister James Isidore and Rose Pauline URIDGE.6 He was mentioned in Mary Jane MARTIN's will made on 8 August 1929.2

Mary Jane URIDGE née MARTIN (back-left)
      Mary was also known as Ginnie.1
Mary Jane MARTIN was born in 1861 in Buxted, Sussex.3,1,2 She was the daughter of William MARTIN and Jane FLEET.1,2 Mary Jane MARTIN was baptized on 17 February 1861 at Buxted, Sussex.1 Mary lived at Danehill, Sussex.1 In the census of 3 April 1881 at Wapsbourne, Chailey, Sussex, she was listed as a Dressmaker, the daughter of William MARTIN.2 Mary married James Isidore URIDGE, son of James URIDGE and Adele Victorine GIBBINS, in 1890 at Lewes, Sussex.4 Brother and sister, Mary and James MARTIN, married brother and sister James Isidore and Rose Pauline URIDGE.5
In the census of 5 April 1891 at Ashley Cottages, Cheriton, Kent, she was listed as the wife of James Isidore URIDGE; a Miller, living with his wife.6 Mary was in a photograph taken circa 1900 at Ashley Mill, Cheriton, Kent.7 In the census of 31 March 1901 at "Downside", Kings Henry's Road, St. Johns, Lewes, Sussex, she was listed as the wife of James Isidore URIDGE; a retired Farmer and Corndealer, living with his wife, two sons and his niece and two servants.8
Her son Edgar John Gibbins URIDGE's estate was probated to her on 7 November 1917 at Lewes, Sussex. At that time her husband, Edgar's father, was serving in Salonika.9,10 She was appointed as an Executor of her husband, James Isidore URIDGE's will made on 19 October 1920; He probably made the will just before he visited relatives in California.9,10 Her husband, James, died on 13 July 1925 at Lewes, Sussex.11 James Isidore URIDGE's estate was probated to Mary Jane MARTIN on 10 August 1925 at Lewes, Sussex.9

Mary made a will dated 8 August 1929 at "Hillside", Saint Anne's Crescent, Lewes, Sussex, it is quite a lengthy will and mentions:

Neice Dorothy Vera MARTIN, the daughter of her brother John MARTIN
Neice Gladys Ethel MARTIN, the daughter of her brother William MARTIN.

Three codicils were added on 8 August 1929, 25 June 1930, 22 January 1931 and 23 August 1932. The will was probated on 13 August 1934.12 As of 25 June 1930, Mary lived at Nursing Home, 31 Ventnor Villas, Hove, Sussex.12 Mary died on 12 June 1934 at Steyning, Sussex.13,10 The 1934 Will index shows: "URIDGE Mary Jane of 39 Aubyns Hove Sussex widow Died 12 June 1934 Probate Lewes 13 August to Frank MARTIN retired farmer, John MARTIN, farmer & Hugh John VINALL solicitor. Effects £ 18,934 12s 5d.10 " Her estate was probated on 13 August 1934 at Lewes, Sussex.12,10
