George HOLMAN was born on 26 November 1850 at Lewes, Sussex.^3,5 He was the son of Frederick Stedman HOLMAN and Frances PAYNE.^2,3,4 George was Accountant in 1877 at Lewes, Sussex.¹
George married Adèle Alphonsine URIDGE, daughter of James URIDGE and Adele Victorine GIBBINS, on 6 October 1877 at Chailey, Sussex. In the presence of James URIDGE, Arthur HOLMAN, J.S.H. GIBBINS, Emma HOLMAN, Eliza Victorine URIDGE, Adele V. URIDGE & J.G. CALWAY. This was the first of three marriages of George HOLMAN.^6,7,8,9 He became Mayor of Lewes twice for approximately seven years in the early 1900s.^10,3
In the census of 3 April 1881 at Lewes, Sussex, George was listed as the Head of Household; a Clerk in the Newspaper Office For Keeper of County Hall, a widower with two sons, and mother and sister-in-law Eliza V. URIDGE living with him. However his wife Adele A. HOLMAN was visiting her grandmother Louisa V.A. GIBBINS.⁵ James URIDGE's estate was probated to George HOLMAN on 27 December 1882 in Lewes, Sussex.^11,12

MARCHAND in 1886 in the Lambeth registration district.^15,16,17 As of 12 May 1892, George HOLMAN lived at Lewes, Sussex.¹⁸ He witnessed the will of Louise Victoire Alphonsine MARCHAND on 12 May 1892.¹⁸ In the census of 31 March 1901 at Lewes, Sussex, George was listed as aged 50 born in Lewes, the Head of Household; the Mayor of Lewes, living with his wife Clarisse F.E., and son Leslie J. Also listed was a Companion Elizabeth S. DEVIN, two and Visitors, Lily M. E. Ormiston, and James P.D.R. Omiston. George & Clarisse had two servants a Cook, and a Housemaid.¹⁹ His wife, Clarisse, died in 1912 in the Eltham registration district.²⁰
George died on 25 October 1932 at the age of 81.³
