William Allen Koopman of McBain passed away May 18, 2014, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan. He was 71.
He was born Aug. 18, 1942, to John and Minnie (Molhoek) Koopman in Riverside Township. William married Janice Martin Nov. 2, 1962, in Merritt, Michigan. She preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 2006.
William worked at General Motors in Flint and retired from there after 35 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming and freedom of speech.
William is survived by three sons, Randy (Marcia) Koopman of McBain, Bruce (Lisa) Koopman of McBain and Brian (Tracie) Koopman of Reed City; six grandchildren, Kelsey, Maranda, Michaela, Jarrett, Karsten and Olivia. He also leaves behind a brother, Bob Koopman of Florida; sisters, Helen Dickerson of Cadillac, Margaret (Russell) Moliter of Lake City, Carol (Ronald) Vyse of Saginaw, Jean (Joe) Poggi of Florida; and in-laws, Carl Smith of Falmouth, Eldora Outman of Lake City, Vera Durga of Lucas, Donnabell (Jim) Lux of Oregon and Carol (Butch) Goodrich of Revanna.
William was preceded in death by his wife, Janice (Martin) Koopman; parents, John and Minnie (Molhoek) Koopman; sister, Hazel (Lyle) Marsh; brother, Henry John (Ruth) Koopman; and in-laws Bill Dickerson, Joan Koopman, Bill Outman, Chuck Martin , Art (Viola) Martin, Leola Proctor, Myrtle (Dale) Herweyer, Jean (Raymond) Merrifield and Roland Martin.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24 at the Vogel Center Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Duane Timmermans officiating. There will be a luncheon following the service with committal at 2 p.m. at the Falmouth Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday from 5-9 p.m. at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home, 211 N. Pine St., McBain, Keith D. Burkholder, director.3
He was buried at Clam Union Cemetery, Falmouth, Missaukee County, Michigan, USA.2
