James APPLEBY was born in 1843 at Yeldersley, Derbyshire.¹ He was the son of William APPLEBY and Elizabeth CHATTERTON.¹ In the census of 30 March 1851 at Yeldersley, Derbyshire, he was listed as aged 8 born in Yeldersley, the son of William APPLEBY.¹

Mary married Ernest Edward WHEELER in 1950.¹

Stephen CHANDLER was born in 1805.¹ He was the son of Joseph CHANDLER and Mary MOORE.¹

Research Note: Stephen Chandler was the father of Anne Chandler born on the 12 January 1835, who was the mother of Annie PARSONS born in 1856, who was the mother of Edith DUNSTONE born on the 19 April 1887, who was the mother of Bessie Lee, who is the mother of Stephen HALE (source 720).¹

     
George married Ellen Elizabeth COX circa 1896.¹ George James URIDGE fell off his bicycle and died on 4 September 1907 at Germiston, South Africa. The inquest was held on 5 September 1907.^3,4,5

Research Note: Margaret wrote: "According to my mother the family originated from South Africa but I do not know if this is correct as she doesn't seem to know too much herself and a lot of what she believes was told to her as a child.. My mother insists that her grandfather George Uridge died in South Africa after an accident and her grandmother Ellen returned to England with her children (Percy, George, Ernest and Marjorie), she also insists that all the children were born in South Africa, and that her grandmother was Ellen".

In February 2007, Margaret contacted her elderly uncle. Margaret wrote "My uncle mentioned that he thought that his ancestors were from Kent and that George's father was William - he also said that he was told as a child that George was in the British Army and had travelled to either America or Australia. He mentioned something to do with the Bore War and that George at one stage was in Holland and eventually travelled to South Africa. He also said that he thought that George met and married Ellen Cox before travelling to South Africa. He knows that their four children were all born in South Africa.^2,6,7"

Research Note: Searched the GRO Consular Birth Indices for 1896-1910 for their children, all believed to have been born in South Africa. However nothing currently found.

Research Note: There may be a connection between George James URIDGE and George James URIDGE. However this is purely supposition.⁸

     
Ellen Elizabeth COX was born in 1871. She was the daughter of George James COX.²
Ellen married George James URIDGE circa 1896.³
Her husband, George, died on 4 September 1907 at Germiston, South Africa.^4,5,6
Ellen URIDGE was the informant on the death certificate of Percy V. URIDGE on 18 March 1917 at Acton, Middlesex.^7,8,9 At the time of the death of her son Percy, Ellen lived at Hanwell, Middlesex.⁸
Ellen married Thomas NEALE on 3 August 1929 at Brentford, Middlesex. The marriage was witnessed by E. URIDGE [daughter-in-law], and E. A. URIDGE [son]. She was detailed as a Widow, aged 58 residing at 242 Bollo Bridge Road, Acton. Her father was listed as George James Cox (deceased).^10,2

John W. TOLER's birth was registered in 4 September 1920 in the Camberwell registration district.^1,2 He was the son of Harry Robert TOLER and Emily URIDGE.¹
John was in a photograph taken 1921. The photograph was of John "Jack" William Toler, with his mother Emily Toler née Uridge, and his grandmother Emma Marie Uridge née Whitaker.³ John's death was registered in 25 December 1981 in the Camberwell registration district at the age of 61.^1,4

Elizabeth TOLER's birth was registered in 4 July 1923 in the Lambeth registration district.^1,2 She was the daughter of Harry Robert TOLER and Emily URIDGE.¹ Betty was in a photograph taken October 1923, when she was 3-months old, with her grandmother Emma Marie Uridge née Whitaker.³
Elizabeth died on 17 September 2005 at the age of 82.¹

Alice Louisa GODLIMAN's birth was registered in 1875 in the Windsor registration district.^1,2 Alice married Francis E. URIDGE, son of Edward URIDGE and Lucy IMPEY, in 1911 in the Hitchin registration district.^3,4
