Francis Stanley SYMONDSON was born on 27 March 1897 in Sutton, Surrey.2,3,4 He was the son of Stanley Vernon SYMONDSON and Jessie Kate URIDGE.1 In the census of 31 March 1901 at 8 Dalley Square, Margate, Kent, he was listed as a visitor of Hannah MORGAN, a Lodging House Keeper; They were probably visiting the seaside, or at school. Also with them was Mary DEAN, a nurse.3
During World War I, he was a Royal Flying Corps Ace, and in 1918 was awarded the Military Cross "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. In two months he destroyed five enemy machines and one enemy kite balloon."4,5,6
Francis died on 1 May 1975 at Bridport, Dorset, at age 78.4,7
