Family Reunion held in Dawlish July 2004
A Family Reunion was held in Dawlish, Devon of the Euridge family. This event took place on 24 July 2004, on the eve of my mother's 80th birthday. The event was attended by all of her (nine) children and their families, and was to celebrate her birthday and 50 years since the family moved to Dawlish. Dawlish Gazette account of Euridge family reunion (large file)

Reginald (Red) Charles EURIDGE was born on September 7, 1921 in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire. He attended Broadway Central School. In 1937, he ran away from home to join the Royal Marines. In 1938, he met Kathleen (Kay) Hilda VEASEY at Weymouth railway station. She had dropped her suitcase and the contents had spilled onto the platform.  They married September 29, 1941 at Yeovil Registry Office. They lived in Yeovil, Somerset with their children until 1952. The family then moved to the island of Malta in the Mediterranean, where some of these photographs are taken. In 1954, Red was posted to Lympstone, near Exeter, Devon and the family moved to Dawlish Warren, where Robin, the youngest son was born. Tragically, on December 23, 1958 Red was killed in a  motor-scooter accident, leaving Kay a widow at 34, with nine children to care for.

Photographs

Some of these photographs were taken by Red, and sent to his mother in Burton upon Trent, his writing can be seen faintly imposed on the photographs.
